The Mueller Family – Established October 15th, 2005
Having known each other since childhood, courted nearly four years, and being totally in love, we decided we ought to tie the knot! We did so before family and friends, in front of Cumberland Falls in Kentucky, on a sunny October Saturday.
This is when I moved back to Texas.
It’s also when I moved to town… the first time I’d ever lived on less than ten acres since I was 7. To say that I was nervous about such an adventure would be an understatement. I’d spent the last 7 years on 200 acres in the Appalachian mountains, 40 miles from stores and major highways. And here I was, stepping out the front door to a whole neighborhood of strangers.
I went stir crazy within two weeks. Having 7 younger siblings and suddenly being alone all day while my husband worked, even this introvert had too much time and quiet on her hands. I quickly got a job at a brand new local coffee shop and loved every minute of my year there.

Ryan was raised in the country too. So, we’ve always had some kind of garden, even if just in pots on the patio. We love to DIY and my hubby is fantastic at building anything I want, from a coffee table, to raised garden beds and fencing, to a moveable chicken coop for the backyard. We’ve stuck to our roots in every possible way… living frugally, crafting, sewing, cooking from scratch, and finding ways to keep two boys, 2 dogs, and 4 chickens happy on half an acre, with a garden.
But we’ve always longed for the country. It’s in our blood and we want that for our boys too. So when God opened that door early in the spring of 2017, we jumped in head first…
